Erasmus in Copenhagen!

Monday, January 11, 2010

From Cologne to Copenhagen.

Dear CEMS Students.

It was quite the party in Cologne - I especially enjoyed the boat ride, the Glüwein and meeting all these Presidents. The Cologne Club is pretty impressive, they have 7 presidents! The Student Board very nicely handed me over to Thomas and Marie from the CCC, and thus begins my Danish journey...

Pfff... There is only one thing to do after a night like the Saturday Party...

I am not sure the young Lady quite got my order...

You know that feeling, the day after? It seems to me that those CEMS students like to work hard an play harder! I hope the Danes will be more moderate...

First meeting with the President and VP of the Student Board. It went alright, although I am not convinced that I got Latin approved as a CEMS language. Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum sonatur!

Mr. Smith sure takes CEMS seriously. That is a wonderful attitude in a young man!

Arriving at the airport...

I almost got confisquated in the Airport. Note to future Erasmus-travellers: I am NOT handy to have in a carry-on, as I apparently am quite capable of KO'ing flight personnel.

And the Danes though it was a hard choice!

Unfortunately, they caught me before I escaped. ESADE, here I cooooooome!!!

I am telling you, the Danes had to restrict me. As you can see from my frown, I am NOT a happy traveler. I did get a smule from the SAS-stewardesses... Hmm... Maybe I am going to like Scandinavia after all!

I am flyyyying, flyyyyying...! These modern modes of transportation sure have their charm.

Arriving at Copenhagen, in the middle of what they called the COP15. The Danes seem very interested in anything related to green thinking...

My first encounter with these odd little bricks called LEGOs. I personally find the shape a bit square...

Doing a bit of late-night shopping...

You have got to be pulling my leg (?). -200 degrees and not a stewardess in sight!!!

Home with the CCC President. I like the lakes in Copenhagen, but it is not exactly sunny.

The following is a medley of what the Danes put me through... during Christmas, they have the tradition of the Danish Julefrokost. I think the pictures speak for themselves!

At the Irish Bar, participating in a Quiz... (Team Erasmus lost by 0.33 points. Can YOU name all three wise men???)

... and the julefrokost....

... I never knew protesting could be so much fun!

... on my way home...

Recovering with a brunch...

Rotterdam, if you think you have many bikes, you should see Copenhagen!!!

I was quite suprised that CBS was also an actual school, and not an acronym for Community of Beer-enthusiastic Students...

Okay, so I didn't make it to the little mermaid, so here is the uncut impression of the statue by the CCC President...

... I hope she's not thinking of quitting her dayjob.

Giving some branding to the local CPs...

Attending class...

This is the Traditional green table used at Danish oral exams. I'm pretty sure Carlsberg is sponsoring! (like everything else in Copenhagen, incl. the Little Mermaid)

Mr. Smith is trying to cheer me up...

Note to Rotterdam... The Danes considered sending me home. Until they saw the price!

Stay tuned to follow what happens next on my journey...

... rumour has it that Mr. Smith took me with him to Sydney!!! A big thanks to the CCC, and I am looking forward to meeting the other clubs in the CEMS Community, hopefully without as much Carlsberg!
